IT Landscape and Architecture Assessment

We were tasked with improving the way technology was supposed to support new business strategies. To tackle immediate and disruptive changes to the client’s industry, a tactical architecture mapping to new capabilities and a long-term IT roadmap were developed – addressing both people and technology.

The client needed to prepare for their new opportunities in a new deregulated industry. This places new demands on the IT organization as business strategies need to be supported by technology and that new operational models need to be developed to support the new corporate structure.

Purpose of the assignment 
Influence Tech provided a team to conduct an assessment and gap analysis of the company’s IT systems and core functions. This was split into two phases, first to address the initial needs related to legislation changes and second addressing the client’s strategic needs.

The first phase of the project was to carry out an analysis of the IT landscape and their ability to support the new business organisations.  The approach taken was, develop a new business capability model and map current state IT systems towards the needs of the new capabilities.  The results included a gap assessment and the defining of work packages to carry out the necessary changes towards the IT systems. This work set the tactical architecture for the new business organisation.

The second phase of the project after the tactical architecture was completed and set was to look at the strategic aspects and to develop a business technology strategy that would support the new business strategic directions.

Value delivered 
A detailed tactical roadmap and set of work packages to enable the client to implement a minimal viable product approach to address the immediate needs with regards to their change journey to support the new deregulated market. 

An IT roadmap to support the new business strategies and long-term digitalization direction of the client. Included in the roadmap was recommendations on new governance and organisational changes and ways of working recommendations to support the further digitalization needs of the business. The strategy was developed using a scenario-based approach.
